Who we are

Ready 13 (www.ready-13.com and app.ready-13.com, and the Ready 13 mobile apps) helps students prepare for their bar or bat mitzvah. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and the choices you have. Questions any time: support@ready-13.com.

What we collect

Adults (parents, guardians, teachers, synagogue staff): name, email address, and password when you create an account; subscription and billing status.

Students: accounts are created by a parent, guardian, or school — never by the student alone. We store the student's first name (and optionally last name and a display name), a username, ceremony date and Torah portion, practice progress (which verses and prayers they've worked on, practice time, streaks), practice recordings the student chooses to make, and d'var Torah drafts. Student accounts use an internal placeholder email address that receives no mail; we do not collect a student's real email address or phone number.

Payments: handled by Stripe. Your card number never touches our servers; we keep only your subscription status.

What we use it for

To run the product: showing each student their portion and practice plan, saving progress, letting teachers and parents review recordings and send feedback, processing subscriptions, and sending transactional emails (welcome, account, and billing messages). That's it. We do not sell or rent anyone's data. We show no ads. We use no third-party advertising or tracking SDKs, and we do not profile students.

Children's privacy

Most Ready 13 students are under 13, and the product is built for that reality: student accounts exist only when a parent, guardian, or school creates them (which is how we obtain verifiable parental consent), we collect the minimum needed for practice to work, students see no ads and no third-party tracking, and a student's recordings are visible only to the adults connected to their account — their parents/guardians and their teachers or clergy. A parent or guardian can review or delete their child's information at any time by emailing support@ready-13.com.

Audio recordings and the microphone

The practice recorder uses your device's microphone only while a student is actively recording a take, and only after the device asks for permission. Recordings are stored privately and shared only with the student's own parents, guardians, teachers, and clergy for feedback. Reference audio in the app (a cantor's recordings) is licensed content and is credited where it plays.

Where your data lives

Data is stored with our hosting and database providers (Supabase infrastructure, hosted in the United States) and protected in transit with encryption (HTTPS). Access to student data is restricted by per-account permissions: each family, teacher, and synagogue sees only their own students.

Service providers we rely on

Stripe (payments), Supabase (database, authentication, and file storage), Resend (transactional email), and our web hosting provider. Each receives only what it needs to do its job and none may use your data for its own purposes.

Your choices and rights

You can update account details in the app. You can ask us to export or delete your family's data — including all student data and recordings — by emailing support@ready-13.com; we honor deletion requests within 30 days. Canceling a subscription stops billing but keeps your data until you ask us to delete it, so returning families don't lose progress.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll email account holders and update the date below. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
