What happens in Pinchas
After zealotry halts a plague, the parsha turns to succession and inheritance. A new census counts the generation that will actually enter the land. Then five sisters — the daughters of Tzelophechad — step forward: their father died without sons, and under the law as given, his inheritance would vanish. Moses brings their case before God, who rules: 'The daughters speak justly.' The law changes. Joshua is appointed Moses's successor, and the parsha details the festival offerings.

If this is your bar or bat mitzvah portion
Five sisters saw an unfair law, made their case respectfully and publicly — and the Torah itself changed. God says, simply, 'they're right.' It's the Torah's own proof that raising your voice thoughtfully can move even the most established systems.
